Sunshine and Showers:
a House Group during Autumn
The Methodist Church is promoting some new, 6-week courses that allow small groups of people to explore aspects of the Christian faith together.
Each course considers a series of paradoxes – ideas and beliefs we hold in our minds which contradict each other, and seemingly can’t both be true, but somehow are. Like a weather forecast for sunshine and showers – two types of weather, both valid, even when they don’t go together.
It is planned to hold a 6-week course during October and November to consider – the Bible’s beautiful strangeness.
The Bible is beautiful; it contains wisdom, humour, great stories, and deep comfort. But it is a strange book, and not necessarily easy to use. This is the reality of dealing with such a set of ancient texts. It doesn’t always make sense in a simple way. Different aspects of it can seem contradictory, and yet true.
So, if you are looking for ways to refresh the way that you understand the Bible, why not come along to:
Westwood House Coffee Shop
7.30pm (until 9.00pm)
on Tuesday 20th October
and each week until 24th November.
